similar to the flag of the Netherlands, which uses a darker blue and is
shorter; design was based on the flag of France

The coat of arms of Luxembourg is probably an adaptation of the coat
of arms of the Province of Limburg in Belgium. The red lion appears there, only
the background has been changed from yellow and red stripes to silver and blue
stripes.
